Duration: 14 Weeks
Schedule: Night Shift | 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM | 40 hours/week
Weekends: Every other weekend required
Location: Syracuse, NY
The Respiratory Therapist provides comprehensive respiratory care services to patients in an acute care hospital environment. This role requires independent clinical decision-making, collaboration with physicians and nursing staff, and the ability to deliver high-quality respiratory therapy services with minimal supervision.
Administer positive pressure, aerosol, and oxygen therapy to patients across acute care units.
Assist physicians in initiating, maintaining, and monitoring continuous mechanical ventilation.
Perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) as required.
Conduct pulmonary function testing and respiratory diagnostics.
Perform radial arterial punctures and manage arterial blood gas (ABG) sampling.
Monitor patient response to respiratory therapies and adjust treatments as clinically indicated.
Document all patient care activities accurately in accordance with hospital policies.
Provide respiratory care to pediatric and adult patient populations as assigned.
Maintain compliance with infection control, safety standards, and regulatory requirements.
Associate of Applied Science (A.A.S.) degree in Respiratory Therapy
Active New York State Respiratory Therapist license/registration
Minimum 2 years of post-degree acute care clinical experience
Strong interpersonal, communication, and critical-thinking skills
Ability to function independently in an acute care setting with minimal orientation
Successful completion of pre-employment health clearance
Pediatric respiratory care experience
Candidates residing more than 100 miles from the facility
Every other weekend and holiday coverage required (based on rotation)
