Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Plumbing Designer with a minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience and strong proficiency in Revit to join our dynamic team. This role is pivotal in designing and coordinating plumbing systems for a variety of commercial, industrial, and institutional projects. As a key member of our mechanical construction subcontractor team, you will work closely with engineers, project managers, and field teams to ensure accurate, efficient, and code-compliant plumbing system designs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and produce plumbing system layouts using Revit , ensuring compliance with project specifications, codes, and standards.
  • Collaborate with mechanical engineers, BIM coordinators, and other trade designers to produce fully coordinated construction documents.
  • Design domestic water, sanitary waste/vent, storm drainage, and special plumbing systems (e.g., lab gases, medical gases, etc.).
  • Prepare detailed drawings, schematics, and 3D models for plumbing systems across various project types.
  • Conduct site visits, review existing conditions, and incorporate findings into design updates.
  • Coordinate design intent with field installation teams and support field inquiries during construction.
  • Review and perform quality checks on plumbing drawings and models.
  • Assist with material takeoffs, equipment selection, and submittal preparation.
  • Stay up to date with relevant codes and standards, including IPC, UPC, ADA, and local jurisdictional requirements.

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience in plumbing design within the mechanical construction industry.
  • Proficiency in Revit is required; experience with AutoCAD MEP and BlueBeam is a plus.
  • Strong understanding of plumbing system design, applicable codes, and best practices.
  • Experience working on commercial, industrial, or healthcare projects preferred.
  • Ability to read and interpret architectural and engineering drawings.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced team environment.
  • Self-motivated with strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
