Job Description

Morgan Murphy Media's Victoria Television Group is seeking a dynamic, forward-thinking News Director to lead our top-rated news team in Victoria, Texas. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced newsroom leader or a senior producer/reporter ready to take the next step. You will oversee all aspects of our news operation while fostering a collaborative and innovative newsroom culture. What you'll do:

  • Oversee daily news operations and manage a team of reporters, producers, and anchors
  • Lead the newsroom in producing fast-paced, engaging, and accurate news content across all platforms (broadcast, digital, social, and mobile)
  • Hire, train, mentor, and motivate a diverse group of journalists, fostering teamwork and positive morale
  • Ensure editorial excellence and uphold high journalistic standards and ethics
  • Develop and implement innovative strategies for 24/7 news coverage
  • Collaborate with station management and other department heads to achieve organizational goals
  • Manage newsroom budgets and resources efficiently
  • Engage with the community and represent the station at local events
  • Drive the integration of digital, social media, and mobile platforms into the news operation

What you'll bring:

  • At least five years of experience producing news content in a fast-paced environment
  • Minimum two years of television news management experience (or equivalent leadership experience)
  • Strong journalistic background and excellent news judgment
  • Demonstrated ability to hire, train, and motivate a diverse team
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and decision-making skills
  • Experience managing budgets and resources
