Tax Assistant/Preparer

Job Description

Assist tax professionals and consultants in managing tax and accounting duties, providing both administrative and accounting support. This role involves helping management schedule and organize tax work and assignments, aiding tax preparers in processing, reviewing, and filing tax returns, and creating necessary tax reports, statements, documents, and presentations. You will also respond to clients' inquiries about their tax issues and support the audit team during tax audits. Analyzing and reviewing complex forms, having a basic understanding of tax laws and regulations, and adhering to tax professional standards and ethics are integral to this position.

Responsibilities

• Assist management with scheduling and organizing tax work and assignments.

• Support tax preparers in processing, reviewing, and filing tax returns.

• Create and manage tax reports, statements, documents, and presentations.

• Respond to clients' inquiries regarding their tax problems.

• Assist the audit team with tax audits.

• Analyze and review complicated forms.

• Adhere to tax professional standards and ethics.

• Perform office management tasks, such as answering phones, greeting customers, making appointments, filing paperwork, and data entry.

Essential Skills

• Proficiency in tax preparation and tax filing.

• Experience with tax review and documentation.

• Basic understanding of tax laws and regulations.

• Strong administrative support and accounting skills.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience.

• No degree required.

• Certification is a plus, but not required.

• Experience with ProSeries is a significant advantage.

Work Environment

The work is conducted in a casual office environment located in Getzville, NY. The schedule is flexible, with standard hours from 8 am to 5 pm, some evenings, and Saturdays. Wednesdays have a 12 pm to 8 pm schedule, with occasional Saturdays required, totaling 35 hours per week. The office offers a laid-back atmosphere, and the position is seasonal, with the potential for annual return.

This is a Contract position based out of getzville, NY.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $25.00/hr.
