Carlson Structural Engineering is a growing consulting firm located in Columbia, MD that is focused on the evaluation, design, bidding and construction phases related to the repair and rehabilitation of existing buildings. We specialize in providing exceptional, professional service to owners and managers of large scale residential and commercial buildings in the Mid-Atlantic region. We offer practical and cost-effective solutions to meet our client’s goals by addressing building defects such as water intrusion, building settlement, construction defects and deterioration due to old age. Our team has experience working with a variety of building materials including masonry, concrete, steel, wood, light gage metal, stone, carbon fiber, EIFS, stucco, siding, and aluminum.

Role Description

This is a full-time role for a Structural Engineer for Building Rehabilitation and Repair. The Structural Engineer will be responsible for calculations, structural analysis, structural engineering, computer-aided design (CAD), and other related tasks. We offer a flexible schedule, a mix of field, remote, and office work, a casual yet professional work atmosphere, and the opportunity to become an expert in a highly specialized field.

Qualifications

• Strong mathematical and analytical skills
• Experience with calculations and structural analysis
• Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering
• Proficiency in computer-aided design (CAD) software such as AutoCAD
• Knowledge of industry standards and the IBC
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
