Our work depends on a Lab Engineer joining our team to support Government activities in Sterling, VA or Annapolis Junction, MD.

As a Linux Engineer supporting the Government, you will be a part of a team responsible for infrastructure architecture, configuration baselines, future-state planning, automation, and lifecycle management.

In this role, a typical day may include:
  • Engineer solutions across virtual and physical platforms, including operating systems, server build deployments, and virtualization technologies to accelerate deployment timelines.
  • Develop and maintain enterprise configuration baselines for servers and clients, including hardware components, software/firmware versions, and device configurations.
  • Design and maintain appliance lab systems that replicate production environments.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to evaluate emerging technologies and integrate them into DIA's infrastructure roadmap.
  • Respond to Tier 3 support tickets related to engineered systems and platforms, providing expert level troubleshooting and resolution. Strong proficiency in Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL 8 and 9) system administration.
  • In-depth knowledge of Red Hat Satellite installation, upgrade, and lifecycle management.
  • Hands-on experience with Ansible for automation, configuration management, and orchestration.
  • Ability to develop and troubleshoot Shell and Bash scripts for operational automation.
  • Solid understanding of system patching, repositories, and content synchronization workflows.
  • Experience working in secure or disconnected environments is a plus.
WHAT YOU'LL NEED:
  • Active TS/SCI clearance and ability to obtain and maintain a CI poly
  • Must meet DoD 8570 IAT Level II requirements including one of the following: Security+ CE, CND, SSCP, GSEC, GICSP, CySA+, or CCNA Security
  • Bachelor's Degree in a related technical discipline + 6 years' experience or the equivalent combination of education, technical certification or training, or work/military experience
  • Familiarity with monitoring solutions, and enterprise security compliance requirements
  • Experience with virtualization platforms (VMware, KVM) and cloud environments (AWS, Azure, OpenStack)
  • Familiarity with networking concepts, firewalls, and load balancers
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently or in a team
  • Strong proficiency in Red Hat Enterprise Linux system administration
  • In-depth knowledge of Red Hat Satellite installation, upgrade, and lifecycle management
  • Ability to develop and troubleshoot shell and bash scripts for operational automation
  • Solid understanding of system patching, repositories, and content synchronization workflows
  • Experience working in secure or disconnected environments is a plus

The likely salary range for this position is $144,500 - $195,500. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
