We represent a global insurance company based in New York looking to hire an attorney with a minimum of 4 years of substantive experience as an attorney in an insurance company and/or medium to large size law firm, focusing on commercial insurance transactional and regulatory matters to support the global insurance regulatory function and international insurance operations.
The attorney will be responsible for providing and coordinating legal support in connection with U.S. domestic and international insurance regulatory and (re)insurance licensing matters, and international corporate and transactional matters.
Key responsibilities:
• Provide and coordinate insurance regulatory support for the organization’s global insurance operations.
• Work closely with the insurance regulatory licensing team to ensure compliance with domestic and international (re)insurance company regulations and (re)insurance company licensing, registration, reporting, and filing requirements.
• Coordinate with domestic and international insurance regulators and governmental agencies in connection with (re)insurance company licensing and registration and related matters.
• Collaborate closely with the organization’s finance and business units to prepare and update various types of domestic and international insurance regulatory and licensing submissions.
• Provide legal and regulatory assistance to support the organization’s international insurance operations, including transactional, corporate governance, and insurance regulatory matters.
• Assist with expanding the organization’s insurance operations globally, including
incorporating companies, establishing insurance company branches, and securing
(re)insurance licenses and registrations.
• Research and analyze domestic and international insurance regulatory laws that may create risk for or otherwise affect the organization; counsel internal business clients on the
business implications of these laws; and assist in developing policies, procedures and risk
mitigation strategies.
Qualifications:
• A minimum of 4 years of substantive experience as an attorney in an insurance company
and/or medium to large size law firm, focusing on commercial insurance transactional and
regulatory matters. Law firm commercial insurance coverage litigation experience may also
be considered.
• Strong understanding of commercial insurance business operations, the commercial
insurance regulatory framework and general corporate laws, and their practical application
to day-to-day business.
