Job Description

The Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Manager develops, implements, and monitors company environmental health and safety programs and policies to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. Maintains safety equipment inventory, performs periodic safety inspections, and collaborates with others to mitigate identified hazards. Interacts with all departments, conducts/coordinates all OSHA required and site-specific training. Drives activities and initiatives to build a strong safety culture.

About the Role

The EHS Manager is responsible for overseeing the development, implementation, and training for all OSHA required safety programs while maintaining relevant EHS logs and documentation.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the development, implementation, and training for all OSHA required safety programs.
  • Maintains relevant EHS logs and documentation.
  • Conducts trends analysis and reporting of results against key EHS metrics to drive reduction in injury and illness rates.
  • Collaborates with management to develop an Emergency Action Plan and serve as primary contact for injury and incident notification, investigation, and case management.
  • Assist in the identification of root causes and implementation of preventative actions.
  • Coordinates the purchase, proper use, maintenance, and inspection of necessary safety and personal protective equipment.
  • Leads monthly Safety Committee meetings, driving involvement and support from plant floor employees.
  • Performs facility EHS inspections, compliance reviews, general risk assessment and other safety assessments to support EHS management.
  • Leads the development of Job Hazard Analysis, Equipment Specific LOTO procedures, and a Behavior Based Safety Program.
  • Manages the SDS program.
  • Stays informed of industry best practices providing input, leadership, and regulatory support to all plant teams.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Strong leadership abilities.
  • Minimum 5 years of EHS related experience.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Able to manage multiple tasks and priorities and easily adapt to changing situations.
  • Strong teamwork skills- ready and willing to work closely with team members.
  • Self-motivated, results orientated and excellent personal skills.
  • Proficient computer skills in spreadsheets; databases and word processing.
  • Excels at the training of new and current employees.

Willingness to work flexible shifts as well as some extended shifts (seasonally).
