Position Overview

Concrete Finisher is responsible for the application of concrete on public and private paved surfaces, including roads, paved areas, and access ways using hand/power tools.

Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties and Functions)

• Assist with curb/gutters/drainage and help spread concrete per direction from foreman or co-workers
• Assist construction/concrete crew with various duties such as shoveling, finishing, flagging and running a wheelbarrow
• Dig, spread and level construction materials as needed

• Ensure a safe work environment in compliance with all safety policies and procedures using the appropriate tools and equipment for the task
• Properly follow all company policies and OSHA/MSHA regulations for safe working procedures and environment

• Always maintaining courteous and professional manner with co-workers, customers and public.

Qualifications

Education/Experience

• High school diploma or GED preferred but not required
• Background in concrete finishing and general concrete construction

Work Requirements

• Ability to be flexible with schedule changes, location changes, time of shift changes. Overtime work may be required and work on weekends as needed.  
• Ability to adhere to PPE (personal protective equipment) policy and maintain individual PPE in a functional condition as supplied by company
• Physical ability to work under temperature extremes and for extended hours of time. Normal shift is 8-12 hours.
• Requires riding to and from job sites. If operating company vehicle, employees must meet Company Driver Qualification Standard.

Knowledge/Skill Requirements

• Initiative to learn to operate equipment required on a concrete construction crew.

• Finishing concrete and other duties associated with job.
• May be required to utilize a wide variety of finishing tools needed to complete jobs based on job specifications.
• Must be able to adapt and work in various weather conditions.
• Ability to climb, squat, bend, push, pull and lift using proper techniques.
