Curcumin (BCM 95)
Curcumin is a potential, natural therapeutic agent with beneficial physiological and pharmacological activities, including antioxidant, anti-amyloid, anti-inflammatory, anti-microbial, anti-neoplastic, immune-modulating, metabolism-regulating, anti-depressant, neuroprotective and tissue-protective effects. It contains bioactive polyphenols which are extracted from the roots and rhizome of the turmeric (Curcuma Longa) plant.
Traditional turmeric associated with the limitation of its poor solubility and poor absorption into the body causes low bioavailability, contributing to low curcumin in plasma and tissue. Moreover, the free form of turmeric rapidly undergoes biotransformation into inactive metabolites which limits its effectiveness and usefulness in the body.
Therefore, BCM-95 is the world’s most researched curcumin developed by a patented technology to enhance the bioavailability and efficacy of curcumin by blending the curcumin with 45% concentrated turmeric essential oil (Ar turmerone) as a bio-enhancer making a safe combination.
Essential oils are naturally present in the curcumin rhizome such as ar-turmerone, α-turmerone, and β-turmerone used as bio-enhancers and help to resolve the limitation of natural turmeric. The synergistic combination of curcuminoids and essential oil in BCM-95 proven evidence of free curcuminoid retained in the bloodstream even after 8 hours of consumption. The natural process of absorption of curcumin involves P glycoprotein (Pgp) present in the lumen of the intestine increases the efflux of curcumin and affects its absorption. However, BCM-95 containing turmerones essential oil acts as an inhibitor for Pgp and prevents the efflux of curcumin thereby increasing its absorption. BCM-95 is FDA-approved and the concentration is formulated as per generally recognized as safe (GRAS). The efficacy and bioavailability of BCM-95 are well supported by scientific evidence, reports and patents. BCM-95 is scientifically proven by clinical study for its beneficial role in the case of joints, liver, urinary and cognitive health.
